Our Beginnings.........

I began ceramics at an early age of 5 years old. My Mother had taken a course and enjoyed it so much, that she bought her own kiln, molds and so on. She taught classes in the basement and at the same time, I also taught! That's right at the age of 8 years, I was teaching everything I knew to my friends- they'd come over with their Moms and I would teach the kids while Mom taught the adults! I took the role of teacher seriously and had a great time helping my friends to create masterpieces that they went on to give family and friends as gifts. From the start I loved this art! I even took Ceramics to school! Mom and I taught many kids over the years- not only my friends and school mates but my brothers school mates as well! I did many garage sales with both my Moms work and my own over the years. When I was around 12 years old, I wanted to go on a school trip to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I never liked to ask my parents for money, so I earned it! That's right! I earned it. I made many pieces and sold them to family and friends, and even neighbours as I went door to door! This was better than a newspaper route! Just the other day, I was at my Grandmothers who was proudly displaying a christmas tree that I made almost 20 years ago! (That ofcourse she had bought from me!) My ceramic money took me many places: Ottawa, Washington, even the movies! When I was 16 years old, I wanted to goto Paris!!!! By this time my Mother was selling beautiful bathroom sets, accesssories and kitchen cannisters, and so on at a fleamarket. At first it was a little slow- but after her first month, things took off and she was so busy, she couldn't keep up! I helped earn my to Paris by helping her make many many pieces and by being her #1 sales person on the weekends at the fleamarket. It was wonderful to help out and make money at the same time doing something I loved! We loved ceramics so much that when I was 21 we opened a ceramic store where we taught classes for 5 years to all ages young and old. Today, at the age of 30, I am still at it! I hope to teach many people like you over the internet, my favourite hobby of ceramics. I hope that you too will enjoy it as much as I do!
